Nia is...

a holistic mind-body-spirit fitness program and lifestyle practice. You will work out—but not wear out—your body as you gain cardiovascular health, overall vitality, and fitness. You can lose weight and gain balance and strength as you reconnect with the joy of being in your body.

Nia is crosstraining through movement. Created in 1983 by Debbie Rosas and Carlos Rosas, Nia combines the explosive power of martial arts, the concentration of the healing arts, and the grace of dance. Nine movement forms inspired Nia: Taekwando, Aikido, and Tai Chi; modern dance, jazz, and Isadora Duncan dance; yoga, Feldenkrais, and the Alexander Technique. With simple, easy-to-follow moves set to music from all over the world, this barefoot, non-impact workout is the fitness practice of the 21st century.

Nia helps you connect to your body, your heart, and your spirit. The moves are easy, the music is varied, and you are in charge of pacing your own workout. Nia works for people of all levels of fitness, all ages, and all sizes. You listen to your own body and learn to move in a way that’s healthy for you.

Every class has a different focus. The only thing all Nia classes have in common is the sweaty, smiling faces that leave the room when class is over.
